Jane, Iris, Chris and Amanda, four of the Committee members, demonstrated at the first meeting of 2016 to a full room of members and guests.

The title was “Celebrations” and Jane started the evening with a design depicting a 10th Wedding Anniversary by using tin containers and complementary orange flowers with beautiful mixed foliage.  

Iris chose two London sights, the Shard and the Gherkin, that were depicted in her magnificent display and included a placement inside her glass container! While Iris demonstrated she told the audience about her celebratory visit to the Shard along with lots of fascinating facts about the two buildings.

Valentine’s Day was the theme chosen by Amanda but using pink and green flowers rather than the traditional reds. Both arrangements were heart shaped - a hanging wreath and a floral cake with co-ordinating pink candles.

Chris entertained the audience with many interesting facts about Albert Einstein and created a very attractive yellow and green floral card in his honour and finished the display with a complementary hand-tied bouquet.

Inspired by a red china shoe, Amanda chose Ruby Wedding Anniversary for her last display.

Using unusual red Anigozanthos (kangaroo paw), red germini and carnations with “green lizard” spray Chrysanthemum and mixed foliage, she produced a placement in the red shoe and one above in a tall black vase, with both these containers displayed inside a red feather heart frame!

Jane finished the evening with a dramatic Silver Wedding Anniversary arrangement in a large silver urn, using beautiful white flowers including roses, Eustoma, Carnations and a magnificent Cymbidium orchid all set off with a framework of silver eucalyptus.

To finish she added touches of silver - silver twigs with silver beads, and a silver ribbon. This kicked off marking the year of the Club’s Silver Anniversary - it was very fitting that Jane was one of the inaugural members 25 years ago!

The audience showed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause and many positive comments about the evening. Those that won one of the designs to take home were even more delighted!
