Saffron Walden
Community First Responders

Saffron Walden’s CFR’s are all volunteers who respond to 999 calls in Saffron Walden and the surrounding areas on behalf of the East of England Ambulance Service.

Community First Responders are activated by the East of England Ambulance Service to attend emergency calls at the same time that an ambulance resource is dispatched, and often arrive first because they're so close to a call.

Volunteers are trained in the use of oxygen therapy and an automated external defibrillator (AED) which allows them to give life-saving care until the ambulance arrives. The ambulance service provides free training and assessment, and start-up equipment, but groups are self-funded.

We are always looking for new volunteers who live or work in Saffron Walden to come on board.

You receive free training to help provide vital basic life saving skills which can make the difference in a life or death situation before the arrival of an ambulance resource.

The more members we can recruit, the more cover we can give. People can be on call for as little or as much time as they’re able - what’s important is that they want to contribute something worthwhile to Saffron Walden in a positive way.
