Living as we do in a supposedly 1st world country, why do we have to put up with a road system that resembles Swiss cheese? 

It is bad enough paying road tax that is seemingly not used for its correct purpose without having to fork out for damage repairs on top.

This situation is also extremely dangerous – if a cyclist or motorcyclist hit one of these holes they would crash, plain and simple, and could be seriously injured.  In a society that is so hung up on Health and Safety, how can this be OK?

Take a look at the (inevitably shaky!) video to your right, a piece of road between Little Sampford and Finchingfield – could this be the worst in the region?  Can anyone count the number of holes in this road?  I ran out of fingers and toes way before the end!
