Essex County Royal British Legion elected a new County Chairman at their recent Annual General Conference in Chelmsford.
Colonel (Retd) Roger Burgess OBE, who has only recently stood down from being chairman of the local RBL Branch at Debden, has taken over this prestigious post from Mr Melvin Swann.
The appointment is for a tenure of three years. Essex has the largest membership of any UK County and Roger Burgess will be responsible for 67 Branches, 20 Clubs and over 12,000 members across Essex.
In 2015, the county as a whole raised over £1 million for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
