Act Of Remembrance At Debden 2018

Pupils from Debden Primary School played a major part in the Act of Remembrance held at Debden Memorial on the morning of Friday 9th November. Watch by their Head Teacher, Mrs Louise Gurney, the children laid a cross and read out the names of the Fallen in both World Wars named on the Memorial. In addition, this year, details of those who lost their lives in the last year of WW1 between November 1917 and November 1918 were read out.

“Last Post” and “Rouse” after two minutes silence were sounded by bugle by young Isaac Reeves. Wreaths were laid by Andrew Tetlow for Debden Parish Council, Lt Col George Cormack for the two Royal Engineer (EOD) Regiments based in Carver Barracks and Michael Clarke on behalf of Debden Branch Royal British Legion. The Branch Standard was carried by Jim Watson. A new Commemorative Stone to mark the location of the new Debden Village Memorial Hall was then blessed by Rev Saxon, Debden Branch RBL Chaplain and Rev Harding Chaplain to Carver Barracks.
