Saffron Walden Snooker Club | Welcome |

The Saffron Snooker Junior Club was set up in 2010 with the simple aim of getting young people to try the game of snooker. Due to ongoing success and an increase in numbers, the Junior Club has flourished and consequently evolved.

We now have a professionally-qualified coach and hold junior sessions every Saturday afternoon in term time (with some additional sessions in school holidays). We cater for all levels of players from complete beginners to those more advanced.

Players must be under 18. There is no lower age limit but height and hand development can restrict playing on the full size tables.

Generally as a guide most children can manage from age 9 onwards. If in doubt we are happy for parents to bring their child to try and the coach will assess if they can manage.

The Saturday sessions are a mixture of technical coaching, friendly matches and an internal league.

For the league, each child is assigned a handicap by the coach and so all abilities can compete once they have learnt the basic technique and demonstrated that they can consistently apply it.

Our main priority is that the juniors get the maximum enjoyment and fun from being part of the club.

Enjoyment generally comes from improvement and this is our focus, which means that we expect all of our junior members to behave in accordance with our code of conduct which is based on the accepted etiquette of the sport and generally accepted behavioural boundaries.

If you are interested in your child joining or giving snooker a try, please get in touch using the details on our Contact Us page.
