The Junior Club is based at the Saffron Snooker Club, Shire Hill Industrial Estate, Saffron Walden. It is a members club but is very welcoming to prospective new members and juniors who are part of the Junior Club.
Saffron Snooker Club is well recognised and annually hosts one of the country’s leading amateur events, from which a number of previous winners have progressed to the professional circuit.
The Club has also been graced by a number visiting professionals down the years including more recently the now World Champion, Stuart Bingham.
There are 10 full size tables and we hold regular friendly monthly handicap tournaments for members, a Friday night league and an internal summer league.
Additionally, the Club enters a number of teams in the Saffron Walden and District Snooker League and the Cambridge Snooker League.
Individual and group coaching is available with our resident qualified coach which caters for all from beginners to those who want to further improve already advanced skills.
The Junior Club is run by professionally qualified coach Russell Huxter. Russell has over 30 years experience of playing and coaching the game and is dual qualified under both the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and the English Association of Snooker and Billiards (EASB).
Russell is CRB certified and has two children of his own who play at the club. In addition to coaching and supervising, Russell also offers
individual and group coaching for juniors and adults by appointment. Russell can be contacted using the Contact Us section.
We consider ourselves very fortunate that the Saffron Snooker Junior Club is supported by two current professional players, Martin O’Donnell and Allan Taylor, and renowned coach Nic Barrow from The Snooker Gym.
Both players have been, and continue to be, very supportive to the club and attend the club periodically to present trophies, offer coaching and advice to the juniors and on occasion even get challenged to a game!
Our junior members benefit from access to Martin and Allan via social media, so they can follow their progress and keep in touch.
