The Thaxted Gardening & Craft Show just keeps on growing, 2014 seeing nearly 700 exhibits representing over 100 diverse classes.

The Show was teeming with visitors and bursting with colour and exhibits of all shapes and sizes, all grown and sewn within 10 miles of the town – what a range of interests and talents there are in this small area!

Ranging from giant leeks to tiny tomatoes, from colossal dahlias to miniature arrangements, from substantial carrot cakes to intricate icing and from photographs to paintings, the diversity of exhibits was astounding.

stunning display despite the challenging growing conditions we have been given this season.

Flowers and veg remain the most popular classes but, with the nation’s current taste for baking, the Great Thaxted Bake Off continues to close the gap, with over 80 entries this year.

There was a fabulous array of delicious bakery – the mouth-watering aromas drawing in the crowds!

Thaxted Primary School is hugely involved in the Show and really pulled out the stops for this year - the children’s creative artwork and handwriting entries hanging from ribbons strung all around the building.

The Show attracted hundreds of visitors from the local area and was full of people for most of the weekend – chatting and learning from each other with plenty of sumptuous tea and cake served by the younger members of the United Reformed Church where the Gardening Show 2014 was held.

So arm yourself with some seeds, fire up your creative side and get planning for the Show that grows, 2015!
