With the dust just beginning to settle from this year's harvest, what better way to celebrate nature's bounty than the Thaxted Gardening & Craft Show on September 13th & 14th? Local human endeavour reaches it's creative zenith at this fun family day out in Thaxted United Reformed Church!

The Thaxted Flower Festival will be in full bloom over the August Bank Holiday weekend and will feature over 60 floral arrangements created by several flower clubs around the region – an unmissable opportunity to witness our flourishing local floristry talent!

Uttlesford civvies came out in force on Saturday, July 26th, to show their support for 33 and 101 Engineer Regiment at the Carver Barracks Open Day 2014. Great fun was had by all with lots of local kids attacking the search and assault courses and showing the soldiers how it's really done!

Despite the best efforts of the good old British weather, thousands lined the streets and dodged the spots for the Saffron Walden Carnival, converging on the Common for a perfect start to the Tour de France weekend. We were there too and what a fantastic experience it was!

Sunday 13th July will see the 2014 running of the annual Thaxted Fayre and Dog Show. Following on from a highly successful 2013, expect to see all your favourite attractions back (craft stalls, classic cars, inflatables, Morris Men, etc.) alongside a few new surprises!

It’s not all just bikes and bunting on Monday 7th July. To celebrate the Tour de France, Saffron Walden Museum has arranged a special one-off, all day Monday opening, from 10am-5pm. Even better, entry for all is FREE, although of course donations are encouraged and gratefully received!
